It can be easy to look at the best photographers and think that they have levels of skill and natural talent that are simply unattainable and as such a normal person can never reach such heights. However, the truth is much more complex than that, and it’s something you really should think about as you grow and mature as a photographer. Coming from aows, this great video discusses the importance of time and dedication in photography, especially versus skill. Of course, that’s not to say that different people don’t have different levels of inherent talent. It’s certainly true that some people are born with a certain predisposition to creativity, but you’d be surprised how many talented creative people end up doing nothing because they don’t back it up with hard work to develop that talent. On the other hand, some of the most successful creatives (both professionally and artistically) aren’t the most talented, but they are some of the hardest working people you’ll ever meet.
