BRAINERD — Crossing Arts presents an exhibition of photographs of a local woman’s journey around the world.
Claudia Allene’s “A Collection of Souls Around the World” began in 2013, when she began her three-year solo journey around the world. She has visited 41 countries, including Peru, China, Mongolia and India.
The photography exhibition opened on July 8 and will be on view until July 30. An artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 22. Wine and appetizers will be served. The public is invited to attend.
Allene documented her travels through photography, capturing the destinations and people she encountered along the way.
The exhibit paints an interesting picture of the incredible world around us, a world we share with so many different cultures, wonderful sites and precious souls, Crossing Arts said in a press release. The images provide an opportunity to learn more about people and places through brief stories that accompany each photograph.
The exhibition is sponsored by Gather On 3 Event Center. It is funded in part by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Five Wings Art Council and the Minnesota State Arts Board due to statutory appropriations from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Allene’s project was made possible by a grant from the Five Wings Art Council with funds from the McKnight Foundation.
