Lightroom received a major upgrade to its masking capabilities in 2021, and the new features can make your editing much more efficient and easier. If you haven’t yet taken the opportunity to dive into the abilities, this awesome video tutorial will show you everything you need to know to get the most out of it.
From our friend, Pye Jirsa, with Adora television, this helpful video tutorial will show you the ins and outs of Lightroom’s new masking capabilities. I have been really impressed with the new capabilities in Lightroom so far. Not only did the new masking panel make it much easier to grab an accurate mask quickly, but it legitimately improved the quality of my images. For example, I often do concerts in a large recital hall with a glass wall behind the stage. Behind this wall is a garden with some trees. I often need to increase the exposure on the stage and on the garden, which in turn blows the sky. Usually, it would be way too much work to try and hide the sky around the leaves and the stage wall brackets for what are often dozens of photos. Lightroom’s new masking tools are so effective that I can easily take care of the sky in seconds. It is really quite impressive. Watch the video above for the full rundown of Jirsa.
