Learn some useful portrait photography tips while watching this photoshoot

Portrait photography can be a real challenge given all the factors you have to balance simultaneously, and the two that often present photographers with some of the biggest difficulties are posing and composition. If these are factors you tend to struggle with, check out this helpful video tutorial which follows a photographer on a photoshoot while offering a range of useful tips to improve your work.

Come to you from Manny Ortiz, this excellent video tutorial will show you some useful tips to improve your portrait photography, especially when it comes to composition and posing. Posing is something a lot of us struggle with, especially since it’s something a bit more nebulous and difficult to codify than things like the right camera settings. Generally, especially with something like shooting in found locations, it’s good if you can work with the model in real time to create poses, as it will help you find organic connections to the environment and create more natural photos, but that also puts a lot of pressure on you, especially if you’re just starting out. It helps to have a few go-to poses that you like and know that they work well that you can build on to ensure you have keepers. Watch the video above for Ortiz’s full recap.
