The Perseverance rover shares its most “liked” photos of Mars for 2021

2021 is coming to an end and we are all recapping it. The landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars was one of the major events of this crazy year. The NASA rover returned quite a few photos over the past year, and it recently shared the ones the community liked the most.

Each time NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover returns new images, members of the public can see and “like” their favorite NASA website. And each week, the one with the most “likes” becomes the image of the week.

Perseverance’s Twitter account shared a slideshow showing the photos that received the most votes from the community. And as you can imagine, there are some pretty spectacular ones. After all, the rover’s passion for collecting rocks is matched only by his love of photography, as noted on Twitter. It made me laugh.

The rover landed in Jezero Crater on February 18 and quickly returned its very first photo of Mars. While the excitement was still at its peak, NASA shared a fun little tool that lets you take a selfie on Mars (sort of). In March, we were rewarded with more amazing photos of the red planet. And of course, you don’t just land on Mars without taking a robot selfie.

I’m sure we’ll see a lot more photos from Mars in 2022, and can’t wait. In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed this reminder of 2021’s most popular images.
