Vokes players announce auditions for The Piano Lesson, March 16 and 18 – WaylandeNews

Auditions for THE PIANO LESSON
By August Wilson

Directed by Michelle Aguillon
Playwright, Susan Harrington

August Wilson won his second Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1990 for this tragicomedy. Boy Willie arrives in Pittsburgh from the south. He has the possibility of buying land, but he must find the money as soon as possible. He wants to sell an old piano that has belonged to his family for generations, but which he shares ownership with his sister, Berniece. She has already rejected several offers because the antique piano is covered in carvings detailing the family’s escape from slavery. Boy Willie tries to persuade his sister that the past is over, but she’s tougher than he expected.

Casting is ongoing and will continue until the entire show airs. The auditions will take place on March 16 and 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Vokes Players. Self-recorded auditions will also be accepted and can be sent to [email protected]
